The United States was not among them….Why the United States declined to use the WHO test, even temporarily as a bridge until the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention could produce its own test, remains a perplexing question and the key to the Trump administration’s failure to provide enough tests to identify the coronavirus infections before they could be passed on.”

Perplexing? How about Trump, who knows more about everything than anyone, knew better than the doctors of the World Health Organization!

From The Nation’s Health on Trump’s released fiscal year 2020 federal budget proposal in March;

“Among its proposals for CDC, the White House budget calls for a more than $236 million cut to chronic disease prevention and health promotion, a $146 million cut for the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, a more than $102 million cut to emerging and zoonotic diseases, and about a $52 million cut to CDC’s environmental health activities, including funding for asthma and childhood lead poisoning.”

Also from The Nation’s Health;

“Trump released his fiscal year 2020 federal budget proposal in March, recommending huge cuts across the federal government, including a 12 percent cut to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and a 10 percent cut for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.”

“The cuts started in 2018, as the White House focused on eliminating funding to Obama-era disease security programs. In March of that year, Rear Adm. Timothy Ziemer, whose job it was to lead the U.S. response in the event of a pandemic, abruptly left the administration and his global health security team was disbanded.“

“President Donald Trump on Monday unveiled his $4.4 trillion fiscal 2019 budget proposal that includes sharp cuts for HHS funding…Trump’s proposed budget allocates $68.4 billion to HHS, a 21% decrease or $17.9 billion less than what the agency received in fiscal 2017.”

This fat piece of grotesque garbage has made what we are now facing as a Nation a far more serious proposition than what it might have been had all our safeguards been left intact. Or even strengthened. Instead, this vindictive vulgar schmuck, this petty tyrant, in his mad pursuit to erase anything and everything that Barack Obama put into effect, has made this terrible crisis even worse — something seemingly impossible and yet this is what this unthinking uncaring grotesque monster has done. And why? Because this black guy, this Obama, once made fun of him. Ooh…

Fuck you, you petulant whiny little bitch spawn of Roy Cohn. I hope you come down with this virus. And I hope you suffer as much as all the people who will suffer and die because they had no chance of getting help, and whose blood you now have on your fat grubby hands. And then I hope you buy the farm…along with all the spineless Republican toadies that cheered you on and told you what a great guy you are as you gutted our country’s health safeguards.

And now we are each of us prisoners inside our homes. Prisoners glued to our TVs watching our somewhat orderly world slide inexorably towards disintegration. Watching as businesses go under. As people lose their jobs. As schools shut down. As people who aren’t Lindsey fucking Graham try in vain to get tested for this thing. Watching ourselves being pushed into the center of some kind of science-fiction tale of dystopia.

Do us all a great favor and, for just this once in your miserable excuse for a life, do something selfless for everyone in this country. Die.
