THE LAW!

This is a story as old as the hills

The rich hire the lawyers

The poor pay the bills

So, in light of the current impeach throes

A poem on just where the law’s reach goes

I type with thoughts that gnaw

Why should I heed the law

While Rudy trots the globe

For scofflaws who disrobe

The lady with the scales

Whose quest for justice fails

As Money wipes away

The laws I must obey

The very laws we must

Enforce to keep us just

As lawyers for the rich

Make Justice felon’s bitch

As criminals on high

Poke sharp sticks in her eye

Smirking as they thrust

Destroying all our trust

In the codes we counted on

Wherefore and whereupon…

It seems the law protects

The ones who write the checks

To keep the power theirs

To pass it to their heirs

The ones whose galaxy

Holds neither you or me

Who are not subject to

The laws for me or you

Who flaunt and mug and sneer

While making it quite clear

That people in our shoes

Obey the laws they use

To hide their heinous acts

The judgement of the facts

And thus our laws are mocked

Thus Justice stands defrocked

By Money rendered moot

By Money’s dreadful boot

By Money’s bloody claw

By Money…

That’s the law!
